My biggest business flops in 2024

Reader,

I know I could write an email with all of my wins from 2024, but who really wants to read that?!?! I mean, if you want that kind of bragging content, go hop on LinkedIn 🤪.

What I thought would be more beneficial to you is to tell you my biggest business failures from this year.

As I always tell my clients, failures lead to success, but only if you're paying attention.

To be honest, 2024 kicked my butt.

I don't want to be a Debbie Downer and go into details, but 2024 pushed me to my limits--emotionally, mentally and physically.

I wish I could say it's all behind me, but some of the 2024 baggage is coming into 2025.

I'm not too worried about that because of the lessons I've learned this year. I now know how to make the right adjustments so the same things can't hold me back.

1) Life happens, and as a business owner, you need to plan for things to blow up.
My disaster of a personal life and family responsibilities pulled my focus away from my business a lot this year. This underscored the need for me to have consistent revenue coming in no matter if I'm able to work or not. I had too many months where I was money stressed, and I absolutely hate that feeling.

So, no more of that in 2025! I am tweaking some funnels and offers, and investing more time in consistently marketing my businesses. In addition, whatever I can automate or systematize, I'm doing it.

2) The money is in the follow up.
I left so much money on the table by not prioritizing following up with leads. How stupid is that? I got too distracted by the millions of other things I have to do each day.

In 2025, I'm working on a new workflow that will help me stay focused on simple and important things like following up.

3) Being reactive stunts your revenue growth.
With my life kinda nuts this year, I always felt behind in my work. This put me in a more reactive state (instead of proactive) than I really like to be. I had plans to do things, but ran out of time to do it. Or some months I just planned too much and couldn't do the best job at closing the deals.

As much as I love being my own boss, it can become really easy to just not show up for myself or my business. Especially if I'm too tired, too overwhelmed or too mentally drained.

I'm entering 2025 with a plan for each month of my business, something that I didn't really do in 2024 because life had me flying by the seat of my pants. Not a way I want to live or run a business.

So, tell me, Reader...

What was your biggest business flop in 2024? No judgement... and if I got a solution for you, I'll share it.

Wishing you all the best in 2025!
